For most of the country the coming of October brings pumpkins, changing leaves, and a chill in the air- a reminder that winter is on its way. In South Florida, however, October marks the beginning of a gorgeous and sunny winter and the start of Florida’s Stone Crab season. As South Florida’s local seafood delicacy, these fine claws are delicious and plentiful during the months of October to May.
To celebrate the start, the Naples Stone Crab Festival falls on October 27th-28th this year at 1200 Fifth Ave. South from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This Olde Naples waterfront Block Party will feature live music, Kids’ events, a Crab Toss, vendor booths, and of course- Stone Crabs! Admission is FREE, and parking can be found across the street from the event at the Grand Central site and at the Port-O-Call Marina.
